TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. "Hot" tents

I came across the topic of hot tents on YouTube. It is done in the cold places of the USA and Canada and involves taking a normal hiking tent and putting a port for a stove pipe in it and carrying your own titanium stove to use for cooking and as a tent heater using locally found wood. Search YouTube for "hot tent". Interesting.

There are several brands that specialise in this area.
Some are only practical for basecamping but brands like Kifaru,TiGoat,Ruta Locura and SeekOutside do lightweight stuff too.

Those chimneys are alot trickier to put together than I thought, espeically the first couple of times.
This winter has been pretty mild in Australia so probably wasnt worth the trouble to bring the fire inside the tent. I had much more satisfaction by creating a campfire outside the tent.
Putting this little stove together was not too bad but packing it away afterwards was a serious pain in the *@$$
something i'd only do in serious cold or had alot of time on my hands.
Ive got a kifaru 8 man and a TiGoat and they're both pretty much the same, except the price. Just go with the cheaper one if you're thinking of getting one.

Converting my cheap tipi into a hot tent is what I am doing for next winters camp at Pretty Valley.
Although I can't afford a Titanium Goat stove so mine will be [probably] either a LPG canister or one made from a biscuit tin
