MD, I agree with above. If you need to reroof it, that's an additional considerable amount of work.....
Also, I dont know what your recollection of those "caddis" style tents was...I was working part time in MDs in the early to mid 80s. The original Caddis was a great tent at that time. But copies of it started to have issues with poor saggy pitch. It's not a good snow shedding design.....and flops around in wind, unless anchored extremely tight, and well enough made to pitch very tight.
I'd be looking for a 3 person 4 pole geodesic dome for what you did this year, for next year. I have an old K'mandu Mountain Dome which we pull out for 3 people snow trips/longer snow trips. It's about 4.5kg. The tape on the fly is peeling off/decaying, but the rest of the coating looks fine. I know it needs a reproof, as it leaches water. If I was to sell it ( and I don't want to), I wouldn't expect more than $100, and its a bombproof design, which happens to pitch well.
BTW, I happened across 9mm aluminium tent poles from China on eBay the other day...at something like $15-20 per 4m something length, plus postage, so poles are cheap to replace if needed
