Big Size shoes

Gday I take a size 14 AUS and US 15 on the slimmer side im looking for a new pair of hiking boots.

My shoe situation normally really sucks because i walk into a shop and say what have you got in my size, they bring me a pair then i generally take them because there are no other options. Ive tried my hand at online shoes of late and ive had a bit of success at this there are a couple of outstanding online sellers such as ICONIC that have great return policy. But not many that sell proper hiking boots.

The problem with a hiking boot are the fact so few retailers first of all stock my size and second of all they have a job to do in keeping my feet safe and me moving so they have to fit well. What would people recomend online? In store(Canberra Based but can go to Sydney)? Options ....

For online you could try Rosenberg's shoes I think they're based in Melbourne. They have a couple of hiking boots, not many but they do specialise in large sizes (my partner has the same problem). Quite often boots do come in larger sizes shops just don't stock them, so if you find some one helpful they might be able to get you some in to try.

My son is size 14 4E.
Like you said - big problem in store.
My recommendation is find several different manufacturers that have sizing that suits you by going to the stores you can get to without worrying about shoe type.
i.e. go to a store try on what they have and say ok New Balance or Adidas have a shoe size and shape that suits me.
Then go and find the same model shoe in say 10 or 11.
Take that shoe to the hiking section and find a same sizehiking shoe with as near similar sole and shape.
Then order a pair online in your size as determined by the other shoe direct from overseas if possible - it's cheaper.
Long way around but it works as well as anything else.
Once you find a manufacturer that makes a shoe that suits you can keep buying them online with confidence.
I would err on a half size larger for a hiking boot as you usually wear thicker socks and feetswell.
Might pay to check what manufacturers you can get online from overseas first to help keep costs down. e.g. I think you can mail order Keens from REI inthe USA but not my preferred shoe (Merrells).

You might struggle as most boot manufacturers max out at 48 European or even 46. Scarpa goes to size 50. I take size 49 having been forced up from 48 due to the change from rounded toe to chiseled toe box.

Paddy Pallin appears to be able to get size 50 in.
