TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

MD gift card What to buy?

Postby Moondog55 » Tue 26 Nov, 2013 12:56 pm

I have been generously given a $40- gift card by some-one I loaned some of my books to.

Are the Mountain Designs pack liner and dry bags worth buying? Nothing else in the store is of any use to me except perhaps a packet of water sterilising tablets and I usually just use iodine for that
I could do with a new dry bag to protect my sleeping bag but perhaps a big pack liner would be better
I do need a new headlamp but won't buy one that uses AAA batteries due to the poor performance in winter

For comparison, S2S Drybags are durable enough but surprisingly heavy. The silnylon ones leak easier than the PU ones (skurka found this out while in alaska).

If you don't really need it it might be worth trying to sell it for 35$ (Better than having it tied up in something you won't need).

I have a 60l S2S liner I which I don't use anymore. Used for about 10 days, I think it is still watertight.
Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful.
