What do you want to know ?? does someone have a MD Bag that Stinks or a MD bag that works for you ??
In my many years of use the only bag that stinks is the one that someone uses without a liner
dont rely on discount to get what you want base it on what you really need (sleep hot or cold ,use in hi altitude or beach ,snow or summer) for instance my latest bag is pure down with a water resistant shell weighs 880 g and cooks me my older MD Aus made down bag weighs twice as much also water resistant shell and also cooks me ,so choose wisely unless you have unlimited funds

na i want something im not going to freeze in up near Ossa in Winter currently im using an old army bag........its well freezing

Quality of the bag! any problems with the mountain design bags that sort of thing just peoples opinions........and yes i'm a cheap *&%$#! so cost is always there

Cash strapped as you are buy what you can afford based on how often you will use it (this year mine has cost me less than $10.00 per night so far and reducing ) if it is not warm enough put some extra clothes on , seriously sleeping bags are a very individual thing so no one can really give you an answer so it is a case of suck it and see as most available here are good quality(based on cost) just my opinion of course.

Just make sure you actually try it on in the shop. Ie, put it on the floor, get in it, use all the zips, cords, etc while actually lying in it. You may feel silly, but it's important to make sure all the bits and bobs work in a way that suits you, and that you feel comfortable in the bag.

I agree, but you will look silly rolling around on the floor of the shop in a sleeping bag.

I got one of the MD Ultra bags on special late last year. I love it. It is light (just under a kilo), warm and fits ME. In a big bag I feel like a corkscrew in the morning. In a snug mummy bag, the bag turns with me during the night. But I am scrawny. A bigger person may find the bag too constrictive. So try it out. The best adjuncts to keep you warm is Tassie is a good thermal mat and a bag liner. Even a silk liner makes a huge difference.

I will have to try it out in the shop good point Penguin as im a large fellow im use to the rectangle type bags but i think the Mummy would be comfy

Well i played with and purchased a MD Ultra500 i did the roll around and didnt find it to bad(it could do with a double sided zip but other than that its nice and light now just to test it

As someone said before, sleeping bags are a very individual thing, but I'll share my experience with the MD Ultra 700. It was rated to minus 3 (limit of comfort), but I was freezing in the huts on the Overland Track when the mercury hit -5 (I had a good Exped sleeping mat as well, and a Thermolite Reactor Extreme liner)....but I have realized I am a cold sleeper. In my opinion the bags temperature rating is very optimistic, and I think it was manufactured before the European Ratings started to be applied to MD and Kathmandu sleeping bags. For value for money, I would look at Black Wolf sleeping bags- their mission statement is to produce good quality gear without the hi-tec price tag When you look at a bag to purchase though, don't look at the temperature rating as much how much down it actually has in it. That's a very reliable indicator of warmth. Anyway, good luck, and if you have the money, Macpac is having an Easter sale still, and their very good quality sleeping bags are 40-50% off I think.

Folk should be able to tell if they are cold because or the pad or because of the bag. Its a matter of are you cold on the top side or the bottom side. If the bag is a problem put your thermals on, or polar fleece - or other clothes that trap body warmth. If the pad is a problem try insulating the pad from the ground - a coat, or a thermal blanket will help.
