One way of looking at it.That does not mean that there are not many brands that can give good service but at the cost of weight and or less life or more restricted range of use. As long as the user understand this fine. A great buy based on user reports would be a well looked after Snow Cave (NZ made) tent that was going cheap second hand because someone thought it just too heavy to be trendy to carry.
Another way -
My Snowcave was 4.2 KG and my Hilleberg Nallo2 is 2.1KG.
I paid $555 for the snowcave about 1990, reduced from $615.
Recently I sold my Snowcave - still a good tent but that the zipper of the main door was starting to fail, it sometimes came apart on the teeth behind the spreader.
Sold the poles, outer and inner all separately, realising $290.
The Hilleberg is a bit under AU$800, I view that in todays terms as a similar cost to the Snowcave so long ago. Haven't done the maths on it.
What cost for a great two walled tunnel tent of any brand? Then what extra cost to save a kilogram or more? I think the minimal extra cost is worth it.
I can tell you that it took a lot of reading and research for me to be convinced that a 2.1KG tent is going to be strong enough for the conditions I may encounter.
Just my thoughts.
