Costco Kirkland Signature down sweater

Looks like the goodies out of Costco are continuing and this time is a Patagonia down sweater identicate out of Costco' Kirkland Signature line. 800+ down fill with 20D ripstop fabric. The two outer pockets are felt lined while the inner chest pocket can be reversed for stuffing but the zip can't be reversed. There's also an elastic draw cord around the waist. By reports, it has near identical design and construction to the Patagonia model but only comes in black, grey and sage green. No brand tag on the outside.

Took my time and thought long about it, finally decided to pick up a unit in S to try it out. The fit is quite generous in comparison to my Montane jackets. Even with a S, there's still a fair bit of room in the upper body. Just right around the waist though. 320g by my scale. For A$99, it's pretty good in consideration of the Forex and GST. I understand they retail for US$70 in the U.S.

They didn't happen to have any of these with a hood did they?

Thought about the hood at the time too but unfortunately not.

No they don't have any hooded ones the moment Mickl. Check out Uniqlo if you're in the market for a cheap down jacket with a hood.

Thanks mate. I went to Adelaide Costco tonight and no go on those jackets. They are still selling only the cheaper 675 fill ones for $56. I did grab a Uniqlo jacket a few weeks ago for a trip and the size was so small it was stupid. I either ended up with a ladies size Medium or they are several sizes off in sizing. Luckily it fitted my wife so she scored a hooded UL down jacket....

Bummer! Sounds like it takes a little time for items to distribute out. I'm sure they'll reach Adelaide soon. The fill power seemed a little lower with the Uniqlo but there's not much in it. I may drop into Uniqlo over the weekend to compare.

Uniqlo do run a size smaller than the label, other than that they are very good value

Had a look at Uniqlo's offering today in their city store and the fabric felt more flimsy. Ok for urban fashion wear but may be a bit fragile out there. Also, the construction is also more abbreviated with no zippered chest pocket and waist cord. Can't be stuffed in its own pocket and the down fill seemed to be less too. At identical pricing, I'm keeping this Costco gear.

I agree with you and would have got the Costco jacket but I really do prefer a hood.

FYI the Uniqlo jacket can be stuffed into either of the internal pockets and the fabric is Toray from Japan. They are, as you say, very minimalistic though.

Yes, if the hood is a priority, than Costco is out of contention at present. Or wait for their Calvin Klein hooded down jacket but don't think they are lightweight.

Called in to Costco Canbeera. No Kirkland at 99 as yet.

I did get 2 pair of the so called Digital runner gloves. At the checkout they are still $15+ each, so the items of interest "on special" haven't reached here so far.

Bummer! Doesn't make sense as Canberra is colder.

The Uniqlo may feel LW but they are actually quite tough enough for bushwalking use. After all they wouldn't be worn while scrub bashing. As I've said you usually need to go up a size in them or even 2 sizes if you want to layer under them. Just buy them when they go on the discount pricing and save the few dollars

The gloves are $16.79 or something here in Melbourne, GPPJ.

Surely the prices of items are identical across all the Costco store here in Australia, no?

Price differences could be down to costs, who knows.
I predict one day a GST difference. Computers can handle it. Maybe fuel excise as well. eg, live in the less populous states and get cheaper tax rates.

Different costs of shipping to the various warehouses are taken into account when setting pricing.

We have yet to see confirmation of price differences across any of the Australian stores...

Get on it guys. Only Large size left at the Docklands warehouse but about 30 units there as of 10 minutes ago. A touch big for me but grabbed one anyway. Weighs 352g on my scales.

Anyone know if Costco Lidcombe would have any? I'd try ringing but past experience has not been too helpful when calling the store.
