TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Tent pole connector spares

Sun 31 May, 2015 5:29 pm

Does anyone know a good place to get spare bits for tent poles?

I've searched around and can only seem to find complete pole sets for sale, this site http://tentpoletechnologies.com/?page_id=671 has pole end inserts but not the middle connector bits unfortunately.

The problem is I have a Salewa tent where the little aluminium inserts that connect the poles keep snapping (two gone now), not being rough with the tent or bending the poles extremely, they just seem to be weak. I have used the emergency repair sleeve and a piece of an old fibreglass pole to get it functional again but would really like to replace them in case I lose another one.

Attached a picture of the bit I'm referring to, sorry about the awful quality but you get the idea.

I see you're from Vic.
Bogong Equipment in Little Bourke St have quite a selection of tent pole segments and will replace a broken one for a reasonable cost.
Remote Equipment Repairs now out at Point Cook also sell pole segments.

Hi Andrew, great thanks, I'll try Bogong Equipment next time I'm in the city.

I actually bought the tent 2nd hand from you a few years back, it's served me pretty well apart from this, so cheers :-)
