TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

4-person 3-season tent suggestions

I was going to buy Sierra Designs Flash 4 but it seems that are not being made anymore.

I am after recommendations for a 4-person tent, 3-seasons, for myself, my husband and my 2 kids (3 and 5). We already have a good lightweight 2-person tent, which will be great for when the kids get a bit bigger, but until then they still all seem to end up in our Queen size bed each night!! :D

ETA:
A further question. Does anyone have any experience with Bivy Bags and kids? It is something I have always been keen to try, and although more expensive, it has the bonus of being useful as they get bigger, maybe a couple of bivvy bags combined with our current 2-man tent.

I can recommend a Big Agnes Copper Spur 4. When my kids were 6 and 4 we went to South Africa for 5 weeks, camping in the National Parks. The Copper Spur 4 tent was quick and easy to put up and slept 4 easily (both ways). The vestible was large enough to eat in in wet weather. I made a tyvek footprint for underneath.

Bivy bags might be hard for little kids to get in and out of. I know my kids struggle with getting in and out of their sleeping bags at night, especially in winter.

hope this helps

Thanks Bron, that does help a lot.

My husband wasn't sure about my bivvy bag idea either, I will have to save that one for another year :)

We have Sierra Designs Lightning 4 HT to sleep 4 (kids 11 &9). Plenty of room, 2 vestibules and 2 vents (better than previous model). It's a bit bulky but ok split up. Recently spent some time in NT & made a very spacious mozzie dome. I like that it is freestanding (a few pegs for vestibule). Tried a mid but like this better.
Cheers
