Even tho we are not going this year nowI still tend to plan ahead just in case we win the lottery
I was in one of the local Op-Shops yesterday and found a pair of Salomon Snowboard boots a half size too big for me.
Practically new and with Intuition liners and $25-
I know that all my mates who snowboard tell me how comfortable and warm their boots are and I thought that perhaps using such a boot in the Arctic might not be such a dumb idea
Anybody have any experience with these boots?

i winder how warm they will be if the boots are sinking into snow constantly... given snowboarding boots are usually only on the snow...

But my experience of the Intuition liners in my Telemark boots in the same circumstances is positive, just very hard to walk far in my ski boots. For real cold I'd be looking at something breathable I guess but it seems most people can't afford real mukluks

For $25 I'm not sure you can go wrong MD. Maybe enquire about getting them resoled with something like a Sorel sole?

Or worst case resell them on ski.com and make your money back.

The soles on snowboard boots are usually very good
Those boots were gone by the time I got back but they turn up all the time at around that price

I think snowboard boots are generally warmer than ski boots. Not sure how they stack up against the Baffin Islands though.

The soles are usually absolute rubbish, many of my splitboarding friends have issues when we've gotta strap skis on the back and start hiking up some rocks.

Cold feet are common in both ski and snowboard boots at -20 to -30 so don't expect them to be super warm. You could look at fashioning neoprene overboots in the style of 40below overboots if you want to boost the warmth a bit more.

It was just a thought, I would of course look for them if and when we go over otherwise it will be those US Airforce N1B canvas mukluks as Stegers are not in my price range
