TIP: The online
Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

My wife needs some new trekking boots.
We have been staunch leather boot owners in the past but her next walk is in Kakadu so non leather will be her choice.
Hot days, wet boots, and heavy loads will be the order of the day on this walk.
So ladies what are your favourite non leather boots.
Would welcome any feedback you have, bearing in mind they would be used with heavy loads not day pack walks.
We have googled plenty of reviews online but would be interested to hear Forum users thoughts.

I use trail runners even with a heavy pack. I quite like my Salomon XA 3D pros. They were only $100 and must have done 1000km or more and still going. Salomon do heaps of mid height boots in a synthetic that may be suitable as well. .. if she is anti shoe.

For heavy loads I still like to wear boots to protect my ankles and also stop my feet sliding forward in the boots and damaging my toes. I also tend to have a bit of a problem with heel sleeping which is easier to mitigate with boots.
In the past I have used a pair of Scarpa XG65 goretex boots. They eventually gave in after many kms and I replaced with a pair of leather boots (Scarpa Mythos tech) and another pair of ZG 65. The new ZG 65 haven't been worn much just because of the type of walking I've done recently and I think they may have been discontinued.
The Scarpa Nangpa-la is very similar to the ZG65, I think a slightly wider last:
