Hiking boots for alpine hiking

I've had to retire my Merrel Moab mid boots after they started to fall apart on completion of a 6 day hike. They were great boots for the price and were comfortable and versatile.
I'm wanting something a bit more substantial as my hiking trips are becoming longer and more technical. Orginally i was looking at something like the Scarpa kenesis but i think that it might be too heavy and now I'm considering the Salamon QUEST 4D 2 GTX or the Vasque St. Elias GTX.
What would you guys reccomend for a mid range hiking boot that would be suitable in an alpine environment with lots of wet rock and vegetation and some snow (Nz or tassie)
