TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

There's heaps of camera pouches that might be suitable.

Aliexpress also has a ton of cheap pouches on there too, and surprisingly most are not baldy made.

For more rugged cordura case options, have a look for "Molle Strobe pouches". I've found some of these fit the etrex series nicely. The Molle Grenade pouches tend to be too roomy for the eTrexs. There are some makers who do specific molle GPS pouches like Platatac, but I've found their eTrex option was designed for the older taller eTrex, and when used with the eTrex 20/30 is a bit too big.

Also, if you use the eTrex in a case while the GPS is on, there is a chance that you get accidental joystick button presses - which in my case led to random waypoints, and sometimes deletion of waypoints while walking. I previously posted about my DIY case for the eTrex here viewtopic.php?f=21&t=20683 and you can see my solution for preventing the unintended joystick button presses as well.

Very interesting kiethy , particularly your invention. I'll take a look at some of the strobe pouches too. Would like something solidly securable to the belt as hiking in rainforest vines pull everything free.

mick - if you'd like one of the silicone "bumpers" I've made I have a spare. Shoot me a PM.

I don't have any more of that foam to make the joystick button protector though.
