TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Winter gaiters

Postby Bart458 » Wed 10 Feb, 2016 3:36 am

Hi guys

I'm pretty new to hiking & my Ste tyres are a pair of low cut targheeII. I'm wondering if there is a pair of gaiters that would allow me to continue using them throughout winter (rain/snow) or do I need to get a mid pair. Obviously I'm trying to avoid the later hence my question & if need be I could wear a pair of seal skinz, but if there is a gaiter out there that someone knows of that will turn my targees into a winter boot then please share.
Many thanks...Bart

G'Day Bart my personal experience has been that winter and even a little snow means proper boots, while I have met people who have used trainers and very low breathable shoes in snow a couple of those people have also had to borrow gear from me to combat very cold feet, bread bags in a couple of cases and my spare winter slippers in another
Ve are too soon old und too late schmart

Thanks for the reply mate. I've just brought a pair os StS quagmires & they fit pretty snugly. Coupled with my seal skins I'm hoping they'll be ok
