You really are a nuisance MD. I deliberately unsubscribed to avoid seeing this sort of thing.

Never mind, their system doesn't want to recognize either of my credit cards :? Maybe later today.

A floorless shelter would be annoying. No protection from bugs or drainage. There are tents out there with floors that are half the weight e.g Zpacks Duplex, albeit triple the price.

Nix
Floorless shelters are great depending on how you use them; for quick shelter in the snow they work really well and the deeper the snow the better they work; which is why they sell so well and so consistently
A large part of the cost with the BD mid is that carbon fibre centre pole

The common use of In built floors is a a comparitively recent development in tents. I like floors and double skins, but they can make a good pitch near impossible on some sites.

I just hope Franco's wife doesn't read this site.. Back on topic - has anyone used the Black Diamond Mega Light? I know floorless tents are used in Europe and in the States but I don't see many here - is it because we haven't got around to using them or because of the possibility of snakes, mossies and other critters?

Haven't used the BD Mega Light but I use a HMG mid without a floor. Very happy with it.

Moondog has seen it pitched at Falls for a couple of nights and it was very near the perfect tent for my snow shoe tour.

OK, I was wrong.
Apparently it was a stove I bought on MassDrop.
I got a bit confused there.

 It seems i'm being gifted something for people buying, it wasn't my intention.

I should say that I don't have any experience with these packs. We had their earlier 'UL' packs PCT, CDT, AT and some of the bigger ones
for several years. Lot's of use and abuse. They were reliably made and tough. The standout was little tweaks and features that i'd not seen before, if anything probably a little overburdened with bling, if all useful and well thought through. The price is good but there are others around in a similar $/weight category. That said, I nearly bought one to consider upgrading but it's probably a year or two early. Definitely a contender if we were in the market. Good Luck :)

(ok, ok, i'm going..)
