EEEEE compression socks needed

TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

EEEEE compression socks needed

I need some real help here
Cecile is unable to find any really wide semi compression socks and having a custom TED made won't happen in the time we have left before we hop on the plane
Does anybody know of a maker/supplier/retailer of proper fitted socks to fit wide feet and ankles
We have tried Supawide here in Geelong and their sock selection is a joke
The Boss just bought her first pair of real shoes yesterday but she can't wear them without good socks as the stitching in the ankle area will rub blisters very quickly

why do you need compression socks - as an anti-DVT measure inflight or post exercise for recovery?

the two are different beasts entirely.

To relieve the pressure on her damaged veins and as DVT prevention measure but also for exercise support in the short term
The TED was quoted at over $240- a while ago
But even without that she has very wide feet, EEEEE fitting
E rating is a measure of foot width, I have narrow feet I am a C fitting

Take them back would be my first response, and choose replacements carefully. It takes a little while to wear in new shoes, especially leather. That said, things have improved a lot. I remember having blisters on every new pair of shoes until linings were improved and stitching wasn't protruding and rough and leather more supple.

That isn't the problem, the stitching; she simply needs socks that fit. The store had a pair of wide socks in the try bin but Cecile has no socks at home and Rays no longer sell those XX-wide socks
The trouble with normal flight type socks is simply foot width, they seem to be woven to fit the "Normal" foot if they fit around the ankle they tend to hang off the end of the foot with uncomfortable excess fabric
I just put in an order with that website ph; if they fit well and good; if not I'll wear them

Ordered the XXL and they arrived
How tight are these supposed to fit as the XXL only just fits me firmly without being too tight
When I walk wearing them I can actually feel the pumping effect but they come nowhere near being wide enough for Ceciles EEEE feet
Still I'll wear them and perhaps get some benefit on the plane

As far as I was aware, C is average. I thought I was wide at EEE (with a B heel, of course ), but EEEEE is impressive. Be very hard to find any sort of footwear to fit.

Well the more you go barefoot the wider your feet seem to get, apparently Queenslanders have an E fitting as normal but I thought the standard last here in OZ was a D or DD fitting

Yes, norm for Aussies is generally D, but I was talking about world-wide and, in particular, manufacturers' standards.

It would be wonderful to be able to afford to have custom made boots and shoes.

Apart from the fact that Cecile can't afford $1200- for a pair of shoes far too many people in the business think extra depth shoes are the same as extra wide shoes.
I've offered to measure her and have her a pair of custom fitted moccasins made but for some reason that type of footwear is on the do no talk about list
I love moccasins, especially the tall Northern Plains and Apache type

As suggested by Photohiker, a medical supplier may be an option - diabetic or lymphodema type products.

It might be worth simply phoning Galini Custom Shoes and having a chat. They'll be best placed to give you some ideas.
There's also Angels Shoes in Adelaide who are generally pretty helpful over the phone.

Good luck.

I did mention in my first post that we simply didn't have the time to get a custom fitted TED woven before we leave
There is a long waiting list and the cost is high and no medicare rebate for some reason
With luck she will find a pair or two for the return flight
I'm not looking forward to the journey ; I really hate flying sardine class

Sorry Moondog, I don't know what you mean by custom fitted TED.

I wasn't referring to any custom-made products though.

TED is a medical shorthand
Thrombo Embolytic Dressing, like an ACE bandage but woven into the shape of sock

I have to say tho that the low rated sock I did buy in XXL did help me a lot
While we are here in new York tho CC will shop
