TIP: The online
Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Sooo....here's an embarrassing first post.
I've finally bought a decent tent. It comes with a different style of peg, similar to this:
http://www.rei.com/product/682543I've always had older style pegs, with the hook on top. How do you stop the rope from slipping over the top on these--is the rope supposed to sit in the little recess on top?
Also, are these suitable as a snow peg at all?
Cheers

Yeah basically the idea is you adjust the angle of the peg against the pull of the guy rope til it holds.. the guy just sits in the the dimples.

In recent BPL article on the holding power of tent pegs the star picket type design that billyjean45 linked to came out as the best.
