Hi just wondering if anybody has any recommendations on fixing the straps that have broken away from the back railing on my backpack. Was thinking of using good ol gaffer tape

Hi Micko, yes the rear panel of the Macpac harness straps crumble and fail. The plastic material used is not durable enough for this task.

I have replaced two sets with new replacement Macpac straps. I got one set from a specialist outdoor equipment repairer and then found the second set at a Macpac shop- much cheaper.

You could repair the rear of the harness with say some 2" webbing/ but you would need to remove the harness from the bag to stitch it on.

Its a bit difficult to manipulate the aluminium bars to get them on, but feasible.
