Seems a bit heavy... But I guess it's pretty cheap.

Likely a silly question, but i've always had tents... I've watched videos on pitching tarps and some of the different ideas. Most seem to leave an opening in the ends, or at least one end. Given that wind can be so changeable, couldn't you get very wet with one end open? Or am I missing something?

Well considering it ships from China and given the description I would say it was worth $25- but not a cent more and it might last the first decent wind but not the second.
There are many well made tarps coming from China but I doubt that is one of them, the giveaway it the way they describe the coating, SILVER PAINT

No silly questions just answers not yet known.

You can get a lot of coverage with a 3x3 tarp. They can be reconfigure if the wind changes and if you use a hammock you can close off then ends to add protection as required.

Tarps do require a bit more tolerance to the conditions. I find using a tarp gives me a feeling of being much closer to the bush around me. And if it is a warm night you can easily sleep under the stars.

I've taken a punt:

. Ordered the blue 'catenary cut' version for $24.95 (including delivery) 12 April.
. Got an auto email 13 April saying it has been despatched.
. ETA is 17 April.

Will let you know what happens.I have high hopes.

A tag along tarp has for a long time proved to be my useful bit of extra kit, and this can't be worse than my $5 jobby from Bunnings.... A tarp has always been good to provide a roof extension to my tent, rain, snow or shine...

16 April email advice from Australia Post that the tarp has been delivered (so... ordered Thursday, delivered Monday).
