I have had this new down parka on order for a long time now.
From Mont
It just arrived and to say I am underwhelmed would be an understatement.
I did not have an opportunity to try on an XXXL at Bogong because Mont only make a small batch in this size each season but I did try on an XXL.
This feels to me to be no larger in the chest than the 2XL and it is too small. although the arms are more than long enough.
I am wondering if anybody here has worn one of the Expedition parkas that Mont do as a special order and can comment on the fit?
I can't fault the customer service from Bogong , When I called them a minute ago I was immediately offered a full refund.
This was going to be my warm layer for Alaska in 2020 wearing over my XL Patagonia DAS/fleece combination because the down layer is half the weight of the synthetic parka that was /is my alternative.
Not sure now how to proceed.
Get an expedition parka from Mont using the refund as part payment or order from FF or WM?
Perhaps the big HA parka from Mountain Hardware/ Rab?
Opinions about alternatives ?

Would it be worth returning it and just purchasing something there when you arrive? The selection would be much better and maybe more appropriately sized.

After having several major fitting fails with online clothing, I suggest the same as Zapruda. Go into a store in Canada (or Aus).
Canada being the cold place it is has a huge selection of winter gear available in the major cities.

I think I will simply accept the offer of a full refund.
Funny thing is that I have never thought of myself as a big bloke, a lot of my mates and both taller and bigger in the chest than I am, none of them ski or bushwalk tho. Comparing prices the Icicle did seem to offer excellent value and I can't fault the Chinese factories manufacturing quality but I don't need something sized for a T-Shirt fit.
$740- isn't a small amount of money either.
I really wanted to save weight on the sled or I'd go with the US army surplus L7 parka system and wear an extra layer of fleece to make up the difference. That is a full 2 kilos heavier for the same temperature rating tho

Found a S/H MH Absolute Zero on evilbay for $450- in an XL, anybody know how large MH cut that particular garment?
Website says that the XL will fit me but over how many other layers? Feedback says it is cut large but it's hard to tell from the sellers photos as he says he is 5'10" but he looks smaller than that wearing it

Things seem to have a way of working out in unexpected ways.
A mate was watching the same duvet, he contacted me through our Facebook group and said that if it wasn't what I needed he would buy it from me at the same price.
Naturally I just bought it, I'll update with photos when it arrives and I try it on

Well my new Mountain Hardwear Absolute Zero just arrived and it is a reasonably good fit in the XL, just enough room for a couple of LW fleece tops under it but it is too small to layer over the DAS parka I was planning to use for my deep cold midlayer
. It isn't as lofty or as warm as my old Mountain Designs parka tho which has surprised me.
So I either go up a size or change my planned clothing.
I can't really afford the pay full price on a new duvet so I guess my clothing needs to change

Cecile thinks it is a little too small and she is right if I was going to use the DAS as my warmest midlayer but really this is a big parka.
If it is going t be that cold I'll add my big mothership overparka [ if I take it that is]
