walking pole for Elderly mother

Wanting to get some pole for my mother. She does a bit of walking along a a channel by her house. She tried mine and found it gave her more stability.
Problem is she doesnt have the strength to open and close the clasp for the collapsable telescopic ones, I have.
So they need to be retractable, light weight, most importantly easy to lengthen and retract. But when in use absolutely need to stay fixed.
My initial research hasnt found anything.
Appreciate any input from the forum.

Realise you said retractable however she is likely better off with a regular Shepard's crook walking stick. That's what they are designed for.
Alternatively if she wants something that doesn't look like a 'elderly persons walking aid' you could get a shepards crook retractable by komperdell. It takes a reasonable amount of strength to lock/unlock and pull out so you may need to keep in full length locked mode.

Having had to use a proper invalid walking stick before I had the hip replacement I would have to say that only a proper medical stick will work. These have a different locking mechanism, they use the spring loaded dimple system. Also the 90degree handle placement is more user friendly when putting weight on the stick when you have mobility issues

At that time I could barely stand up but the bits and pieces needed would have cost more as parts than a full item

Does your mother also have trouble bending down to pick stuff up ?
A set of grabbers can be attached to these poles with double C-clips
