Brork - first impressions

My crowd-funded Brork arrived today, so I thought I'd post a "first impressions".

Firstly, and most noticably - was the colour of the Brork bristles which were a rainbow effect, which was not expected. I've analysed how I feel about this unexpected colour modality, and overall I've decided I actually really like it. It adds fun and whimsy to what is already a not-to-be-taken-too-seriously piece of bushwalking equipment. And should amuse fellow hikers.

The toothbrush head can be replaced with a screw, and is pre-drilled for this.

The Brork prongs are also a deviation from the original advertising - now four pronged in number, and not as sharp. And the knife feature too takes up less of a surface area of the side curve.

From my perspective these alterations are welcome. Mostly because I don't want to cut my mouth with my Brork. And the prongs are effective at stabbing pasta without issue, and the knife suitable for cutting through soft carrot. For anything more serious, like salami - I'll use my trusty Swedish knife or if I'm out UL-ing then my mini Victorinox Classic.

As I normally brush my teeth after eating, I like that this will remind me and make it easy to do so; and my toothpaste needs to stay in my food bag anyway and stowed away to keep critters out due to the smell of toothpaste. So I think this will work well - eat and brush teeth ritual.

The metal brork side is more heavily weighted obviously than the toothbrush side, so that might be a negative to some - for me it's fine I think. But I will update this if I find anything differently out in trail use. So far I've only tried pasta at home quarantine with it.

Weight: 29 grams (so not as UL as I'd hoped; as initially they'd thought it would be 22 grams)

a brork! I wasn't sure what to expect when opening the thread. For some reason my mind roved to - chicken sounds.
I like the multi colour bristles.
It's like something Inspector Gadget or Maxwell Smart might use. Definitely a multi use item.

Cute, but I’m happy with my folding titanium spoony thing, and a separate toothbrush. Can save more weight elsewhere.

By the name I assumed it came from Iceland and may be able to sing and dance.

For me sporky things are useless compared to a spoon because liquidy food seeps out between the tines. Similarly the knife bit would be useless for slicing cheese or salami and it weighs the same as my alloy spoon and Victorinox paring knife.

That "thing" is probably the very best worst taste bushwalkers stocking filler I have yet seen, much better than blackening soap or hot chillie peanuts, better than glo in the dark radium toothpaste even

Oh, and speaking of radium, there are a lot of sad stories from the early days of playing with radiation.

It's quirky and for that I like it. The kind of thing that might make you chuckle everytime.

Growing up we had splades (not sporks). The perfect utensil for foods like cottage pie, lasagna and small pasta.

The blade is not intended for food preparation, it is for when a knife is not essential and a fork is a bit narrow.
