Hi
My Soto Windmaster stove arrived (replacement for lost Kovea ultralight titanium) but it won't ignite with auto igntition or match.
And the cylinder (jetboil) works fine with Kovea Spider etc.
It's like the gas isn't getting through...
Any suggestions before I post back?
Thanks

Can you hear any gas coming through when you open the valve? The windmaster takes a few turns on the valve before any gas starts to come through. I know it sounds obvious but it takes maybe three or four turns on mine before the gas comes through.

Hi
Thanks heaps
I did 2-3 turns & no gas came though (instructions said 1-1.5) So thought it was faulty pin height (see below)
But with 4 turns it worked!!! So that's normal??? And don't worry about it?
I did read online that 1 user had 2 faulty stoves & got this reply from Soto:
“We have been distributing WindMaster in the world market over the past 4 years, but I personally have receive the gas flow issue twice in the past. Both case, we send the replacement stove and the issue was resolved. At our factory in Japan, WindMaster is assembled by our skilled workers by hands. Each stove is examined twice before it goes out our door. However, past two cases are related to the height of the pin located at the base of the stove. If the pin is too short, it will not push the gas valve located inside the canister. On the other hand, the valve on the canister is set too low, which does happen, then the pin will not be able to open the valve when the stove is screwed onto the canister.”

I've been using mine (which takes four turns) for about a year now.
Pretty happy with it. Super reliable. I wouldn't worry about it taking a few turns.

Yes - takes quite a few turns, but a wonderful burner.

Yup. It takes a few turns because it's a pressure regulated valve. It's not a screw but a spring which keeps the gas from coming out.
I love how quite this stove is though.

Yes, mine also takes a few turns as well to get the gas flowing, just like other owners have already mentioned above.
It’s a fantastic little stove, well-made & super reliable, with a piezoelectric ignition that works really well, I’ve been super pleased with mine!

When I turn mine off I then always back it off (on) a 1/4 turn so there is no tension while its stored. Maybe the design means there wouldn't be any ill effects. A general habit!
