Sun shade for hands

I use pacer poles when walking and even with suncream they got sunburn on a recient 10 day walk in tasi.
I was thinking of having a 6 inch sun guard that clips into the top of my pacer poles so shade the top of my hands when walking in hot climates. The pace poles have a hole that you can use for a press clip. Walking with poles means the top of your hands are more exposed to the sun than not using poles.
Has anyone tried something like this as I plan to walk larapinta trail in winter?

Yes, I did have a problem with getting cuts on the back of your hands when scrub bashing; and getting badly sunburnt on the back of the hands
I always wear long-sleeved shirts and use walking poles as well; so the back of the hands were being hammered; my palms also got blisters from the poles

Problem solved: I use cycling gloves with fingers cut out.
This protects the back of your hands; keeps your hands cool; and the padding on the palms protects me from pole blisters
I have also used golf gloves with the fingers cut out; not as durable as cycling gloves, especially in the palm area.

The goso palmless gloves are best for this. Fishos love them and have been using them for years.

they just have really soft low profile string around fingers...no palm at all. perfect for using poles.

I just use spf 30+ long sleeve shirts myself but my wife uses these things that are apparently called palmless gloves.

She gets hers from the Cancer Council shop in Melbourne, but I couldn't find them in the Vic online shop, but here's a link to the NSW shop page with them

I use some cancer council solar cool protective gloves, I got them in Canberra many years ago, the only place that I could find them now is at the Queensland cancer council. http://www.sunsmartshop.com.au/product_ ... ucts_id=90

I think I will have to order some new ones soon.

Joe - sorry. I was using the new iPod interface & missed you post.

Late at night, and with a broken lense in my reading glasses the text on the itouch is a little hard to read
