Petzl Tikkina repair

For many years I have had Petzl headtorches. The current one is a Tikkina, working well after four years, with one problem. The button is now 2-3 mm under the level of the top of the torch, making it hard to operate the button, especially while wearing gloves. Has anyone experienced this? I'm considering building up the button with a rubber-like glue such as a silicone filler. Would this work and are there better alternatives?

Not the same HT, but a NU20 did this to me-ended up not being able to turn it off. Couldn't fix it as you suggest.

Thanks. The torch still works, albeit with a button that is hard to operate. I'm going to clean the button and surrounds thoroughly and apply silicone. The worst case is that the silicone falls off.

Can you crack it open? It sounds like there's a structural problem under the button and fixing that should be a longer term solution than building the button up

I cannot see a way to open the button and light housing. I've seen setups where there are angled flexible "grips" (I cannot think of another word) that are forced open when the other part is pushed in, and then the grips snap shut, impossible to open. I'll ask Petzl about this.

I swapped from a Princeton Tec byte and kept it as a spare, ended up in a ziplock bag in a glovebox. Recently got out the Ptec after a couple of years to find the rubbery 'on' button had diminished. Seemed to click but the thing wouldn't work even with fresh batteries. So I lamented then ditched it, but kept the headband which still has elasticity.

Then I lost my Fenix 50 v1.
Replaced it with a Fenix 23. Very happy. Takes one AA and I carry a spare rechargeable battery or two.

Game over Petzl, expensive overrated piece of junk. Never buy them again.

The best price I can find for Tikkina is $40. NU20 is $53, and Fenix is much more expensive. On longer trips the USB port on my computer is too far away, and spare batteries are lighter than a solar panel.

The NU20/25 are good pieces of kit walking and bushrunning, outside the depths of Alpine winter. My NU20 has hundreds of hours on it.

Lovin' Fenix. I'm OK with $65 nice weight metal body and waterproof. The 23 takes one AA, of which I have a few eneloops so I didn't want to buy the 50 V2 rechargeable HT.

Since I lost my first Fenix 50 I have a 123 battery spare! Will post for free send me a DM.
