BD Megalite modifications

It hasn't arrived yet but already I am wondering what needs to be done with it to make it more suitable for Oz and my height.
On my old Megamid I did sew on snow flaps, for this one I was thinking about doing something similar but using insect/ No-See-Em mesh.
I was thinking that 300mm of mesh would be enough but now I'm wondering if I should make it 450mm so I can raise the pole for maximum ventilation
Query about how much mesh would be too much and the best pole modification to get extra height, as I don't know what pole is coming with the tarp. It could be the older aluminium Bulldog type pole or the carbon fibre pole.

Something like this crossed my mind too for a tent like this. Perhaps something you could maybe peg down or cinch up a bit to bug seal it when raised up a bit

I'm not sure about extending the pole. Perhaps just something underneath it?

Pole will depend on which is shipped, so I'll leave that for a few weeks.
I wasn't thinking about peg points on the bug net but that would certainly make sense.

The tent finally arrived. Interesting new style of hybrid pole. I'll have a go at putting it up tomorrow and see how it feels.

Reading your first post again MD I had a chuckle to myself. All of my shelters are great for their purpose but all have one or two tiny misses/improvements to be made! But then I forget until I use that shelter again...

Too damned wet here to try and do anything. Cleaning up after last nights supercell rain event.
At least we aren't slab-on-ground here.

I usually use the thing, whatever it is, for a while before making additions/changes. Even then I do think of better changes/additions later on :(

Same here but snow skirts were added to my last Megamid after the second use of the second Megamid I owned.
This is the third "Mid I have owned; but I still want to set it up and use it a few times before I decide what to do.
One important point tho; the new carbon fibre pole is incredibly bulky, the original "Bulldog" pole took up much less room in the pack, the next iteration of the pole that used shock-cord and kept everything pre-assembled took up a lot of room, the new and much stronger second generation CF pole is about 50% bigger again than that. I've no experience tho with the first iteration of the CF pole

I got a BD CF pole when my Nemo Pentalite pole failed. It's 4 sections of shock corded CF with a spring loaded extender that uses a washer and angled end to lock into place. I was a bit sceptical at first but it's worked very well and it's much tougher than the original one.

I've done nothing yet. In fact I've not even erected the tent.
Life and other things have gotten priority, but I've bought some short CF poles via the forum and soon I'll nut something out.
