TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Hi all, saw these in Aldi on the weekend. Does anyone have one? $50 worth it?

I have two of the Aldi down vests from several years ago. Those are brilliant as a warm/extra layer that weighs very little and packs down very small.
I also had a look at their current down jackets the other week. I think the quality looks fine and that's a cheap price.
My only concern is that the jacket seemed a bit on the heavy side. The vests appear to be still very light though.
Admittedly I'm comparing the Aldi jackets with my my hoodless Mapac Uberlight, which is probably not apples vs apples.

These are good jackets JohnW.
Not light but well made and durable

Yes that was the impression I got from a brief look and feel.
In any case at ~$50 it's a low risk investment :).

Several years back the wife and I bought one for our daughter to take on uni study tour of Turkey in winter. She wore it everyday and said it was great even the days it snowed.
As others have said you can't go past the price. I have washed it in our front loading washing machine, then in the dryer on low heat (with a tennis ball) and it came out fine.

That's positive! Might need to wander back down and see what they have left then :)

Yep found a medium feather vest in the leftovers a few years back. Works fine on its own or to later under my usual UL jacket.

I have an Aldi vest. Only about 40g or so heavier than similar types that sell for $200 or more.
Love it.
Last time I had a look at their jackets (previous drop...) they did look well made and if I did not already have two others I would have bought one.
Obviously try them on for size (keeping in mind the layers you will want to wear with it).
