TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Half bags again

So here I am packing for winter and thinking again about bivvy gear for my day pack.
I just looked again at the PHD website and I am blown away by how much their products now cost.
I'd not be buying one even if I thought they were affordable because they are far too short for a bloke with long legs like me.
So I looked at the Macpac sale and the prices for the LW bags there and had a wild thought about getting a standard size Firefly 200 and trimming the base to fit.
At the sale price of $350- it's half the cost of a PHD bag, partly because of the high cost now of UK postage.
My existing half bag is waterproof and warm enough but being full 3-layer Goretex shell and 200GSM Hollowfill insulation it weighs almost a kilo and the stuff sack is a bit larger than I'd now like, but it is the right length at mid chest height
Ve are too soon old und too late schmart
