TIP: The online
Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

I recently brought a WE Breakout pack. I was thinking maybe I should waterproof it.
What is the best way to waterproof a canvas pack?
Or am I just wasting my time, and it won’t leak to much or at all?
I have been on a few walks with it and so far have been very lucky with the weather.
Thanks

Wax it or use Nikwax but wait until it stars to leak in a year or three

Would you just do the seams or the whole pack?

G'day Greenie,
I own 4 WE packs and none of them are totally waterproof so I suggest you invest in a waterproof pack liner to be on the safe side.
An interesting experiment with your pack is to fill it with water and see all the possible leakage points you can then use seam seal on the inside especially the
stitching on the back, there is also a dedicated canvas sealer available (check out the WE website) which I have used to good effect on my Karijini pack but I always
use a pack liner regardless of this.

I'll give the fill water trick a go. I will also check out the WE canvas sealer.
I already use a pack liner.
Thanks

I've got one of those wonderful "bulletproof" Breakout packs. Mine's done many a walk, including the Overland. It's seen a fair bit of use in it's life and never leaked on me - as far as I can see. I use a waterproof liner though. Always. Regards, CV
