Pack advice again

Was just about to buy the oneplanet Stezleki pack when I noticed a macpac CASCADE 75 FL on sale for $380 and every one saying thats a steal ,I know macpac have been sold and I have never owned a macpac so I delayed the sale until I ask the question to people in the know, you lot, so has anyone got one or should I stick to one planet?

Who would of thought buying a simple pack would be so hard!

Is this the new Cascade or the old one? Check the Macpac website for the specs. The new ones are two colour, either blue or red. the old ones are a singe colour. There is a big difference in the harness.

If it is the new one that is a sensational price. Paddy Pallin has about the same price on its website.

The pack is heavy but I have a few acquaintances who have carried the pack for a couple of days and said that the harness is the best.

I have an old one, 70l, and loved the fit of the harness a lot . I liked the quantum harness so I bought one of the end run Torre 80l on special. For bush bashing a for putting the pack down of scaporia etc the old material seemed a bit tougher.

Like boots, the best pack is the one that fits you the best. Try it on an see how it snuggles into your lower back.

1. macpac was purchased by Mouton Noir
2. Mouton Noir is owned by Bernie Wicht ( founder of Bivouac and ex-
partner in Kathmandu), Pierre van Noorden (ex retail development at
Kathmandu) and Campbell Junor ( product/design manager at Kathmandu
95-2000, Mountain Designs 2000-2007)
3. they formed the company and purchased fairydown from previous owner
Alp Sports early 2007
4. currently trading in NZ via 5 company owned stores selling
Fairydown adventure equipment
5. purchased macpac, to take effect 1 march 2008
6. carrying over designer, development, suppliers, manufacturers,
brand values and warranties.
7. plan to offer products to customers via our own stores, reducing
the added cost that customers incur when buying from other retailers.
8. rollout stores in as many areas as we can, as soon as we can
9. open internet sales to cover the time gap before we can have a
physical presence in key locations.

Maybe this means that other Macpac stuff will be on sale in Australia until the new owners can sort out their own distribution system? Could be some good bargains out there?

There have already been a lot of clearance sales of MacPac gear in some shops (including Paddy Pallin, I believe?). You'll have to get in quick, before all their stock runs out, as MacPac will ONLY be selling through their own shops (with Fairy Down) soon (including their new internet shop).
