Hi guys,

Just thought I would see if anyone has any experience with the montbell alpine light down jacket (good, bad or ugly :-)
I'm in the market for a new jacket that's lighter than my previous yet doesn't have to be super warm ie most of it's life will be spent worn around camp in the evening in syd/blue mountains or cold stops whilst on the trail. However it will get used on occasion in the snowies (summer hikes, winter ski/snowboard and snowshoe adventures as a mid layer) and my rare tassie adventures (wish they were more frequent :-(

It looks like a good jacket at a reasonable price point. Also if any ladies have it how do you find sizing/fit.

Thanks again

Cheers

Michaela

BM, I see you have had no replies. I can't directly help, but can point you to http://forums.ski.com.au/forums/ubbthre ... ost1114941 where some of the MB parkas are roundly applauded. Tele-whippet is a guy who's opinions I trust and is not too lightly impressed by gear. He used to make some climbing gear so knows a reasonably made bit of kit when he sees it.

Hope this helps.

Thankyou for that. I didn't even think to poke my head in at ski.com.au
Must admit I use tapatalk on my phone these days so I tend to visit ski.com.au more in the winter months.
Interesting he went with the mont bell thermawrap (synthetic jacket). I've read some good reviews on it but I guess was leaning towards down out of habit. Hmmm good food for thought.

Hi BM, I'm very happy with my MB Thermawrap Parka, very light and compactable but warm for its weight and well made.
Great for skiing or around town (Katoomba) on those drizzly/mizzly winter days.
Be aware of MB sizing though, they're sized for small people, I normally fit a medium jacket but needed a large size which fits me well.

HI Michela,
Didn't see this earlier,
I have a Montbell Extralight down vest.
I use this in the Blueies all thru winter.
This is a great piece of gear. :D
Fit is true to size.
Hope this isn't too late to help you out.
Melinda

Not at all too late. Thanks guys for your feedback. I'm now at the point of toying with whether I go for the alpine light (down) or the thermawrap (synthetic). Hmmm. Torn. (in a fun I'm about to buy more gear sense :-)

Yes the wm jackets are dreamy arent they. Unfortunately I'm tight on $$$ and I've heard good things about mont bell for the price point. Gotta love the strong aus $ at the moment (mind you it would be nice if it popped back up over the USD mark).
