What knot?

Just thought I'd throw this out there as I'm literally sat here tying some guy lines to my new SL3.

What are peoples favourite knot whether it be connecting guy line to tent/tarp or guy line to stake etc. Just thought it might be interesting to see peoples thoughts and pick up some interesting ones I hadn't thought of. I'm fairly boring with the taut line and either thumb knot or double hitch? (shows I wasn't a girl guide

Bowline to attach to tent.
Taught line hitch around the peg.
I never use anything else, just cant see any point in getting all complicated with truckie hitches etc.

Yep, a bowline to the tent works fine. It's one of the knots that is useful across a number of different fields.

For the other end, I would recommend cheap lineloks like those from backpackinglight.co.uk or zpacks for quick adjustment. I sometimes use a prusik knot if I forgot the lineloks. Look it up on YouTube.

It just makes adjustments really easy should you need to in the middle of the night.

Tying to where, do you have the new one with the mid height tie outs?

Id suggest clip on (nite-eze biners) or something, you will very rarely need extra guys and you wont want them hanging loose when you dont/cant use them. And they did put them in a rather odd place... After many years they have finally added the tie outs, i suspect more of a marketing tweek, afterall Hex/SL3 built their reputation well before this model... The tie outs may stop a bit of 'flapping' but its not bad and they should have been Between section ties (ie the lower peg points) to make any real difference.

Some people add a long tie to the top hat point which may hold it up if some pegs pull out. I dont see that as a good idea either... As that would happen on the upwind side, It Would then be holding whats left like a windscock...

The real beauty of a tipi is simplicity...

Otherwise yer, the bowline and those mini sliders are nice.

Sorry Nuts. I should have clarified i was more making a general topic as I'm playing/learning new knots at the moment and was just tying some on my SL3. I don't plan to keep them on there however I have a few spare wilderness equipment lines that I keep in my pack if needed (so no they won't be a regular fixture on my SL3, I'm just headed down the snowies soon so I wanted to see where they tie as a just in case You know what it's like when we get a new toy...we find all sorts of ways to play with it. Thanks for the advice though.

I usually use a a figure of eight to connect my cords to tent. the figure of eight will not come untied(used for climbing).
I use this knot for bootlaces. It has never come undone on me. It is the best knot I have seen for bootlaces.
