Let's say you won a $10k voucher to spend on outdoor goods, what items would immediately be on your wishlist?

Interested to hear what's on the cards.

I agree, when I saw this I immediately thought boat and trailer!there's a boat for sale in local supermarket for 2k just wish I had the money (and a trailer). Eldons, Ida, Schouten Island etc would all be a lot easier.

So ninjapuppet, how do we win the money?

I need to lighten up. So would look at getting lighter versions of major items for a start. One man tent - likely Terra Nova Laser Competition 1. Pack - possibly Go Lite Pinnacle but need to do more research. I've already started considering those things regardless of winning anything. What's the criteria for outdoor gear? I Just bought a dual suspension mountain bike, now I want a decent road bike as well. That should take care of another couple of grand at least - nothing too flash, I'm not Cadel Evans. Mmm, the kayak idea sounds interesting too. And I'll need something to transport it. How much money have I got left?

Definitely a nice kayak, fully rigged for fishing and lots of storage for overnighters. I've just bought a heap of gear in the last year so I could prob do with the 10k- golite pinnacle, integral designs eVent gaiters, macpac prophet, spot 2, golite SL3 plus I'm currently having a solo nest made for it. Eeeek! Oh well it's probably good I'm spending money on updating hiking gear cause if I wasn't spending it on this it would be my other love- skiing/snowboarding :-) no wonder my hubby shakes his head endlessly at me ;-)

As its a wishlist and I have several of them on various websites, I'll combine them:
Terra Nova Laser Comp 1 - Moontrail has some at a better than local price
Neo Air Regular - don't want feet hanging off the end - pity US suppliers can't ship O/S
-5 C down bag, but not mummy style - need room to move feet. PHD may make one for me. Happy to hear other suggestions
    Walking/Trekking poles
    new knees

and I think I have run out of $. Is there a bonus draw in this lottery - I still need to replace the low slung sports car for something bit higher and stronger......

Hi Gayet.

I got a NEOAIR from the US...

Here try this...

They cost 3 times this if you buy locally...

Good choice of tent btw. Although the PHOTON is even lighter

Thanks ILUV. I did look at the Photon and while it seems to have the same foot print the Laser had an edge. I am trying to convince myself that I can wait for the tent and neo air and bag. The poles would ease the need for new knees but the low slung sports car just doesn't cut it on less than B class roads. It may be first.

Patience was never my strength - just placed an order for the Neo Air

Thanks

Hell I wouldn't buy gear, I'd hire a Sherpa to carry my pack for me until the money ran out

Kayak.
S2S Alpine SB for those winter camping trips.
Tripod and a whole lotta filters for the camera (it's used almost exclusively out bush, so I reckon it qualifies as bushwalking gear . . . )

Getting my fitness back would be a good start. Other than that, more socks.

*sigh*
Knees, hips and shoulder reconstruction. I don't think ten grand would cover it.

Walking in the bush
Has left me peaceful, warm and tired
What more could I ask
There's nothing left to be desired

:D This song is a nostalgic reminder of a 1970s road trip during my misspent youth. I'm glad you changed the first line though! The lyrics had me searching youtube last night for other hits by the Hollies, of which they had quite a few.
