Yep. I have a pair. They are ok. Fairly wrm and nice to put on before bed. You can't really walk around in them outside because the sole is a porus material and is prone to getting dirty. Also a bit of a luxury item wieght wise. A simple pair of good woolen socks has about the same affect. I take them on every trip because otherwiseI'd keep a dedicated pair of sleeping socks anyway.

Down socks are quite toasty for cold feet
http://www.seatosummit.com.au/showdetail.php?Code=AFFhttp://www.featheredfriends.com/Picasso ... oties.htmlI have the Feathered Friends ones, great when snow camping as the outer is separate for walking around camp or as a hut bootie then i use the inner as a bed sock---toasty

I can second the Feathered Friends booties. I haven't used then in snow but did resort to them in the office during my first Hobart winter - the aircon was a bit dodgy and under 10 degrees was a wee bit too cold for my feet when just sitting at a desk. They were wonderful.....

Explorers? I have bought 3 packs of Explorer wool socks at the markets for about $20. They are long and thick and warm and just get thrown in the wash with everything else and are fabulous. Last for years. Prior to the booties they were my sleeping bag socks. Might go back to them in warmer weather as well.

Perhaps not quite the answer you were looking for but I'll put in my 2c worth. I was once winging to an old, seasoned ski instructor about never being able to find warm enough ski gloves/mits. He told me my thinking was backwards, that the gloves didn't matter so much as keeping your core warm enough. Basically if you're core isn't warm enough, it's going to minimise blood to your extremeties (ie hands and feet) thus leaving them colder in order to preserve warmth for your more important torso. You may not 'feel cold' because your core is warm, but it's only maintaining warmth at the expence of cold hands and feet. So this old guy told me to take measures to preserve more warmth to my core, and the body will happily share warm blood to the extremeties and they'll be warmer. Anyway, it has mostly worked for me since. Perhaps something to think of in the scheme of things.

I just purchased a pair of Merino socks at Target for $12.00
On the packaging it says, designed by Overlander for target.
They have different thicknesses, the ones I purchased has extreme sport on the packaging.
Just tried them on now, they feel comfy and has good support.

I am in the market for some new hiking socks and I am tight with money so these sound perfect! Are they 100 percent wool? And how thick are they? I prefer them thick and woolly (No reference to Blacksheeps misinterpretation of this topic

).

For $12.00, you can't go wrong with these Merino Wool Socks I purchased from Target. Quality wise they look better than socks worth over 40.00 I recently purchased, which did not last long. There very long as well, half way upto my knee. Lucky I seen them. Had some time to kill yesterday, so I went for a browse at Target, Looked at some socks as the socks I own now are getting old and they've been through some punishment of late, when I saw a small section in the sock department, way out the back in a dark corner. When I read Merino Wool on the packaging and the price of only 12.00. I couldn't resist. Think I will go back and purchase a couple more pairs. They had others there that where not as thick as the Extreme Sport.

Really good pricing Phillip however for a "few dollars more" you can get excellent IMHO 100% Australian made and owned Merino Fleece socks by Wilderness Wear and the good thing is the wool is sourced from Tasmania and the cooler regions of Victoria, all this for around $19.00 a pair with an Australian manufacturers guarantee
No I dont have any tie up with them just have a pair to wear every day which I do.
