Hi all,

I have an exped Auriga Mesh tent and it looks like a seam is starting to leak, Has anyone ever seam sealed an exped tent and if so what sort of sealing medium did you use, I have been told that "SilNetâ„¢ Silicone Seam Sealer" is ok has anyone tried it?

cheers

I have seam sealed a black diamond tent with silnet before, it worked but be forewarned that it probably wont look pretty! Take your time with it! Good luck :D

You might find it easier to use with the tent erected drum tight.
I ran the tube nozzle flat over seams and avoided the temptation to play with it.
For the fly I erected inside out, dry, then turn over.

Ps ... different tent, same fittings same fabric, stitching. All out of China or Vietnam these days.

The fabric of your Auriga fly should be polyester not silnylon (check that)
If it it is polyester you use SeamGrip not SilNet
BTW, you also use Seam Grip on PU coated nylon (the underside,at least, of your Auriga is) including PU coated silnylon.

Hm. Ohh ... from the Mainpeak Au site.... "Description ... Auriga Mesh Extreme is lighter and more airy with a nylon rainfly". But .... "Specification ... Rainfly: PU-coated, UV-resistant, flame retardant ripstop polyester"
I dont know how I got so confused. Apologies  .

That said though, while you cant use urethane rubber Seam grip on silicone treated, is there any reason you cant use the silicone compatibles on polyester Franco? American labelling, theres no ingredients contains on the Silnet tube.
