TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Old Trangia gas conversion

I have an old 27-1 Trangia (20 year's old) which I am hoping to convert to using gas. The Trangia website seems to say I cant do this but looking at it, it seems to have the same size metho burner, etc as others that can be converted. Has anyone converted theirs successfully to gas? Cheers, Emma

Yes I did it a few years ago. The only issue is that you need to make a small hole in the side of the stand to pass the gas tap through.

It's well worth doing and sooooo much better on gas.

G'day sweetipark,
I converted my old 25 -7 to gas 20+years ago and on this site http://www.trangia.se/english/5614.27_series_ul.html they state that gas conversion is available for 27-1
hope this helps.

Thanks for that. Actually saying it's a 27-1 is a stretch - it is at least 20 years old and it doesnt exactly still have the box or instructions ..... I am assuming it is as I think the size is a 27-1. But we will give it a shot I reckon. We are only talking flammable materials. What harm can possibly happen
