Well I found 2 Pasta Vegetariano from Back Country down the back of the bushwalking cupboard. Best before 22 Jan 2005 and I thought I wonder if they really mean it. Well we had the first one last night and it seemed just like normal and tasted as good as ever.
Cheers,
Andrew

Best Before vs Use By.
Use by - good idea not to eat it after that date.
Best Before - probably okay after that date, subjective.
I will often eat things beyond their "best before" date, depending on what they are. If my wife doesn't throw them out first, that is...

Yes, I have been carrying the same Adventure Foods, Chicken Tetrazzini packet for my emergency meal for the last 10 years. It has a best before date of 2000. I haven't had a need to use it but I believe it will be good for a few more years yet.

Perhaps for Back Country there should be a "
not as bad before" date
