Just wondering who has done this with lets say cake,muffin or damper mix or anything else you can bake, I just ask as it would be a nice thing to do out on the trail, nothing like some muffins or cake at the end of the day, just like mummy makes :)

All you need is a baking ring to keep the mixture off the bottom and put the mix in a container or tin foil container and your ready to bake, pretty simple, might take 20 minutes, but not sure if your need to simmer or have high heat ?

Not sure I can dry bake with my Optimus weekend pot, the one with the heat exhanger on the bottom, I don't want to destroy it as I do like the pot :)

Has anyone tried using those silicon muffin cups?

I tried cooking in oven bags and have had some disasters.

His muffins are tiny, I WANT HUGE MUFFINS, wait!!! that sounds like i want a sex change or really like boobies :)

Either way I want bigger ones.

Haha yeah I think the open cup style may limit the size. The bag system is easy and clean.. Also allows a larger muffin.

Yes they work a treat you can get them at the $2.00 shops if you look around i have 3 in my Trangia and 2 more for my other set ups . I have been using the water only muffin mixes , they don't brown off but who cares . Oh and you only have to get the water boiling , then put your simmer ring on . That way you don't use as much fuel and boil all the water away .PS they do have the jumbo silicon muffin cups around and also try Kmart they have some great egg poachers which would do as they float no grate needed good for eggs to we use them at home .

What a brilliant idea!!! I'll definitely have to give this a shot.

I have a remote backpack coming up, but we will be cooking on campfires every night. Has anyone tried doing this on hot coals with a Ti stove/pot?

Do you still add the water at the bottom and/or a 'riser' to elevate it? I've heard this helps counter-act any warping of the stove/pot that may take place as you're baking.
