Samsung Galaxy or iPhone 4?

Wed 28 Sep, 2011 1:47 pm

It's time for a new smartphone, and I'm considering the Samsung or the iPhone - does anyone have any inside info on how these compare in terms of their GPS function?

Or any other comments that are relevant e.g. battery life?

Thanks in advance!

Like Frenchy said, the Iphone 5 gets announced today! So even if you don't want a 5, expect a price drop on the 4. The Samsungs also get very good reviews, especially the new Galaxy S 2, but it is physically huge for a phone (though thin). Personally I'd go Iphone next time, but for now I have an Android (Motorola Defy) which is quite alright. It is waterproof which is why I have it, but otherwise an iphone is better in my opinion.

I've had iphone 3g and borrowed a 4 to help with my decision as the galaxy 2 gets rave reviews. I went out on a limb and got the galaxy s2 and LOVE it. It dances rings around the iphone. Its internet is a lot faster the screen is bigger and easier to read (yet the phone is lighter than the iphone). The 8mp camera takes great photos and I really like the layout of the screens and the way you can scroll them. I've not used its gps for bush activities yet (though I've got a garmin for the times i do use one). Great phone and highly recommend it.

4am tomorrow, AUS time... Then hold off another week until the Nexus Prime with Android 2.4/4.0 is released (Oct 11-ish). That will be comparing Apples with, well Ice Creams. :D HTC are also releasing "something" on the 6th apparently.

Of course this is all moot because a) the iPhones5 will be typically hard to get unless you've pre-ordered, and b) our carriers are useless at bringing out other phones in a reasonable time period.
