Hi,
I just thoughts I would raise discussions on this topic of GPS Tracking / Safety
To declare I am the director of TrackingCentral Pty Ltd and we sell GPS Tracking / Personal Alert devices and solutions across Australia for multiple applications including but not limited to children, elderly, persons with disabilities, lone & remote workers just to name a few.
Traditionally there are 2 types of GPS Tracking for those outdoors the main stream dedicated tracking solutions from leading manufacturers that allow you to determine your location and record log the path you have taken and then there are the personal alert GPS Tracking Solutions. At TrackingCentral we specialise in the personal alert variety.
With the exception of our high end personal Satellite / GSM Tracker that uses combines a mobile phone sim card in addition to the ability to communicate with the iridium satellite system ( same system as traditional satellite phones use) when you are out of gsm range.
All other personal GPS Trackers on the market use mobile phone sim cards in order to communicate location data and alerts from the device to a Tracking Server.
These personal tracking devices allow your path to be recorded continually at pre set intervals and have the data sent to a tracking server for the plotting of the data on the Tracking Server Mapping Platform. The units also have the ability to have 2 way voice communication as well as an SOS alert button that when pressed will activate 2 way voice call and also report the location as an sos even back to the Live Tracking Sever. The only issue with these personal alert tracking devices other than the hi end version mentioned above.
The personal GPS Trackers come in a variety of different models primarily in either a small pendant style not much larger than a box of matches or an actual GPS Personal Tracking Watch. We are about to release a new watch that will be 100% waterproof. Simply wearing one of these personal GPS Trackers only requires that you remain within mobile phone range and when outdoors they will work reporting your location to an accuracy of 10+ metres regardless of how far you travel anywhere in the world.
I hope the above information has been of interest to you and if you have any questions please call 1300 255 990 or email
