Im pretty sure they are making them already. But may end up like the failed google glass.

Not convinced on this one. The two companies have quite different product objectives. Once upon a time I was highly sceptical of the iPad and its utility, then we accumulated 3 under the one roof. Time will tell.

Samsung already make a watch, except aside from the heart rate monitor it doesn't have any features not already in your Samsung Galaxy phone. No compass, no GPS, no therometer, no pedometer, no barometer, only 3 days battery life, and only mildly waterproof. An actual watch seems more sensible for outdoor types

The sales pitch is "receive & access notifications from your phone on your wrist". But is that relevant to the outdoors at all, particularly when you're out of mobile coverage?

If you really wanted a heart rate monitor you could just get one of these for a much lower cost

I still don't understand the iPad. I have one for work but never use it. Much prefer my Note 3.

Exposed metal components (clips) on a chest HRM sensor is a bad idea. It's going to corrode badly over time unless one doesn't sweat. There must be other options with better designs.

There are many grades of stainless steel. That's correct, lower grade SS can rust and corrode when in a salty environment.
