I use the Weather Australia app by Funtopia.TV from Melbourne. It's free and works well. I did try the shifty jelly weather app but it stopped updating.
I am typing this slowly in case you can't read very fast!

Yup, it's good. Sourced from the Bureau of Meteorology who seem to be the best at forecasting,in Tasmania anyway!!

Its not an app but I use yr.no for weather and have done for a few years. Maybe thay have an app? don't know.
I find it very user friendly. I like the hour by hour forecast which enable you to time your day. You can also plug in fairly specific random destinations like Mt Field West here in Tas to get a forecast appropriate for your altitude rather than the nearest low town.
Its a Norwegian website which sound bizarre but i suppose they are sucking their info from bureau of meteorology etc.
I was put onto it by friends in the building trade making decisions about whether to order 10 concrete trucks or not.

( Ok, fair enough folks.. )

So, is there an app that randomly switches between " flooded", " on fire" and " stinking hot"?

Just make a slide show of several shots of the same scene under different weather conditions and send that in an endless random loop and that would probably work too. Well here in Tassie.

I find the BOM website my most useful 'app'.
A few pertinent bookmarks and one can quickly get some idea of what we could expect!
Today it was' showers '. Rained just about all day which was great. Didn't know so much rain fitted that category.

the smartphone apps are scaled for smartphone screens, you don't need to zoom in on the screen to read it... you might have to scrool and thats it.. hence it can be easier if you can get the info from an app than accessing a website, the aus weather website is pretty big and you need to zoom in and move around a lot and click into different screens to get the info you need.

I did a search on Google Play for "Local Sheep Fun Finder", but came up empty. There's a new business opportunity for you right there.

Wayno that's fine IF you can actually read the fine print. Yes one can change font size (assume you can).

Some apps that are made for smartphones won't zoom and you are stuck if you can't zoom to read something.
Multifocals are a pain for reading those small screens. Hence my normal web pages.

Haha I love it 'Clouds and Sheep'

I also saw one there called 'Aporkolypse Now' - is that for when you cross the Razorback Range?
