Maybe everyone knows about this site, and I'm the only noob, but this looks interesting. Finding the time to set it up may be my stumbling block
It allows others to follow where you're going, track route maps etc as you are actually doing the walk.

I discovered it when reading Michael Thompson's, Scottish Mountaineer blog and gear reviews
(NB different Michael from the one Wayno mentions - that's Photohiker)
It's a good read, and I can connect with his style and sense of humour (haha moreso than some of the slighly 'intense' US guys)

I like his philosophy
'I prefer lightweight gear if I can get it, because my knees aren’t what they used to be but I don’t go for weight over comfort. I’m not ultralight, I’m ultra-enjoyment.'

Check his pics from April 30 2012
Sigh, I've gone off topic again
Haah I redeemed myself by editing the title
