Just came across this article of a compiled list of off-grid smartphone apps for the outdoors. Some we have talked about here while others seemed fresh. Hope it's of interest to some.

A so-so list.

Pocket Earth Pro - one of the best, is not included.

Yes, I've been impressed by Pocket Earth too. These lists are never perfect but sometimes offer a few interesting candidates here and there.

I use TopoMaps+ on iOS and that's pretty handy for offline use. It includes all of the OSM routes in Tassie which is good for getting off the main routes (for example Lees Paddocks to Kia Ora or similar) also includes actually topography which is a must.

Just used Pocket Earth on the Mt Macedon circuit.
A few anomalies when it lost the GPS signal a few times but very close.
Maps are very accurate.
