Its a neat idea and one that has been around for a while. Not much chop if its a foggy day though.

There used to be a smartphone app that would recognise your location from a photo taken of the surrounding mountains. Can't find it anymore. It was NH Centric so I never bought it, but there is also an app that uses your GPS location to show you what you should be seeing:
