Good grief, I can't believe I won with that shot! I've had far better photos barely score a vote, and didn't think I had a hope against the rest of them.

Oh well, I'll take the win, anyway. Thank you all.
(Must have got the sympathy vote . . . )

ps: I love your campfire shot, Earwig.

It is a worthy photo NNW.
I presume it is a stitch of 2 shots and that you may have been using a polarising lens - on wide angle it darkens one part of the blue sky as compared with the rest.

The campfire shot was very skillfull.
They were all good photos though.
[Wth 44 votes total, 22 were won by photos from Tamania. It must be nice being able to enter 2 comps each month.]

Yes to the polarising filter, but no stitching. It's just carefully cropped from a wide open 10-22mm lens.

(And yes, it must be. I do have sympathy for those who refuse to vote for Tozzie images in the Aussie comp.)

Gee, and I thought you got a separate comp because you couldn't cut it with the real pros up here on the mainland . . .

I'd prefer no overlap between the comps, but as it is I only vote for Tassie photos in the Tassie comp. Which must be fairly common as I think (?) only one Tassie photo has won an Australia Photo of the Month.

do we need a NSW and VIC comp too? i can understand your reasonong for witholding votes, but to me the best photo should be the one you vote for in all fairness- so long as it was taken in AUSTRALIA- and yes to beat the smartalecs to the joke tassie IS part of AUS! ;) .
.......maybe we just need better photos/scenery from the other states? (teasing only folks) lol

Thank you NNW and Eggs for the kind comments.

I liked 12 Shining Moment and the winning shot - it gave an good sense of space. they were all good. Looking forward to the next comp - except I haven't been walking much this month but lots of fungi shots.
