Having a G12 and moving to an EM5, I'd imagine I could enjoy one of these latest.
Main reason I moved on from G12 was lack of a decent viewfinder which EM5 has.
Coming from an SLR film background I found the digital SLR huge for comfortable use.
I still have my G12 and use it frequently and a progression to this G1 would not be difficult given the EVF which turned me to the EM5. But I'd want to handle it first.
Both this and the EM5 are sealed cameras, another plus I've valued.

I think its closest rival is the Fuji X100f. Obviously no zoom on the Fuji but there are the add on lenses. Similar sensor size. Canon has the touch screen and some weather sealing. I am always a bit worried about the reliability of those telescoping lenses though.
