Transport recommendation

I know this will sound like an ad but I promise it's not, just impressed by this service. Travelled again in March with Paul Brigg's "Outdoors Tasmania" to Cradle Mountain with a pickup from Lake St Clair a week later. I have to say what a great job Paul and his wife do. They pick up from the airport or your hotel in Launceston, deliver you to CM and waited while I collected my pass for the OT etc. Sure, he is a bit dearer than McDermotts and TassieLink but the price comes down with the more people he carries and the service is more personalised. I've also done the trip up to CM with McDermotts and there was nothing wrong with that service either. Outdoors Tasmania operates on different days to McDermotts. which meant I didn't have to hang around in Launceston for another day, pay for accomodation etc. Having a stop on the way up to CM for a loo break, some morning tea and to buy fuel was appreciated as was storing my non-hike bag for the week. Getting to Lake St Clair a day early, being able to arrange to get back to Launceston on that day and then having Paul go home (40km) out of Launceston and return with my non-hike bag was really appreciated. I also believe they drop off and pick up from more remote areas in the Western Tiers etc as well. Thanks Paul and Bridget, a big thumbs up for all your help.

These kinda ppl are priceless. I got in a cab many years ago, at LST APO and when we got into town, cabbie says "have you paid your accomm yet", I said "no". He said to me "I can get you to Cradle for the cost of a bus fare for each of you, and pick you up from Lake St Clair for the same- and hold your luggage for you". (2 pax). "-and I'll wipe the meter for you". It was about 20 years ago- the same guy still operates a number of taxis- and is "my driver" in Tassie. I have stayed at his home, had a XMAS with his family… these kinda ppl are worth their weight in gold.

The hiking partner said "aren't you worried about our things" I said- "so what if we have to go home in hiking clothes- big deal!". I had no doubts about him the moment I met him. He was a big, giant of a man, toothless, rough around the edges, but he was cool.

Charlie59- they're worth every penny of what they charge. I hear ya.

Cheers
