Hi

I am interested in walking up to the top of Mt Olympus in the lake St.Clair national park.

Can anyone give me some advice on the best route to the top and any-other tips which may come in handy.

Also is there reference maps and is the track easy to follow?

Cheers

John Chapman in his book describes 3 different routes up Olympus.
I have climbed from north of Echo Point and then down to Petrarch.
I didnt find any track.
There is a nice camp spot at Lake Oenone. When heading up took a bit of searching to find a way up the cliff line. I dont Think we were where Chapman describes in his book.

Dazza, it seems to be a bit of a 'bash' no matter whose instructions you follow... We did it last year in winter and camped just below the summit... I have attached some pics below of our trip...

You will hit a gnarly cliff line about 2/3 of the way up... keep going to the right of this and you will find the occasional tree root 'ladder' ascending the face... choose one that looks best to you!

Have fun!
