Getting there from Launceston on the 25th Christmas day.

Hello,
I'm new to this forum, I plan to do the Overland Track alone starting on the 25th of December, I know the date is not very convenient but it's all I could get up to.
I'm arriving at Launceston Airport on the 25th in the morning (~10am), and have contacted many bus companies and none of them provides any transport on that day; or if they do I'm alone in the van and the price is just not suitable for me.
Now I'm pretty stuck because I can't change my plane ticket (It will be too expensive).
What do you guys reckon;
- Are they any people here who will take the same route as mine on the same day?
- Is hitchhicking safe in Tasmania?
- Is renting a car to get there is more appropriate?
I can't wait to walk that track!
